The Best Healing Salve Recipe (With Honey)

How can I say this is THE best healing salve recipe. Because you are going to make it with YOUR favorite ingredients in a combination that best suits YOUR skin. Here's how:

  • Beeswax - I used a consistency of 1 part beeswax to 4 parts oil. To determine which consistency will work best for your skin, visit https://www.humblebeeandme.com/a-quick-guide-to-beeswax-liquid-oil-ratios/.
  • Your favorite skin oils - I used a consistency of 1 part beeswax to 4 parts oil. I'm a big fan of coconut oil. It works wonders on dry skin and is easily absorbed. One caveat - It is comedogenic. So, if you have acne-prone skin, you may not want to use this salve on your face. I also used another rich, skin-strengthening oil in combination with the coconut oil - jojoba. It is applied directly to the skin for acne, psoriasis, sunburn, and chapped skin, according to WebMD. You can also try grapeseed oil, rosehip seed oil, safflower oil, or whatever your favorite skin oil may be.
  • a couple drops of your favorite essential oil (that is safe for your skin) Not only do essential oils make your salve smell great but each one has unique properties that could improve your skin. I love the scent of lavender and since I'm prone to getting cuts and scrapes from working with my hands, I benefit from its healing properties. But maybe you'd prefer a different oil. No problem. • a couple teaspoons of honey Honey has wound healing and antimicrobial properties.
  • ½ teaspoon vitamin E About a ½ teaspoon per cup of oil

  • To make the salve recipe, melt the beeswax and oil in a double boiler on low heat while continuously mixing.
  • If you don’t have a double boiler, follow these steps:
    Fill a pot with water.
Combine the beeswax and oil in a glass jar.
Place the jar inside the pot of water.
Heat the water on your stovetop until it simmers.
Continue to simmer until the beeswax and oil have completely melted together.
  • Remove from heat. Once the mixture has reached room temperature, you can add honey, vitamin E, and a few drops of essential oils.
  • Pour into glass jars or tins to set. In the past, I have used a simple mason jar, or, in this case, I used an aluminum tin.
